Reactive World Update!


This update focuses on making the world reactive and dynamic. Lots of love went into this one, and I appreciate any feedback (good or bad)

FEATURE UPDATES:

  • Planes and ships now make their way around the map. Shout out to Designer Soup for the plane models!
  • Crowds of citizens now populate the world and will react to the player helicopter
  • Weather system - choose from clear skies, rain, and storms. Stormy weather adds wind and turbulence which makes for a new challenge for landings and steady flight
  • Helicopter collective forces have been modified to be more realistic, which means pulling all the way up won't constantly increase the lifting force (there is now an upper limit). You will have to plan ahead for altitude increases and position your helicopter more deliberately to avoid obstacles

GENERAL UPDATES:

  • Refactoring to further optimize performance and load times.
  • Menus have been updated and streamlined
  • Control inputs have been added for Unicode keybindings, so you no longer have to have a US Keyboard to use it in game
  • Toggling cruise or hover mode now plays a sound to notify the player
  • Updated the control and how-to-play screens to provide more clear instruction
  • General scale adjustments to make each helicopter feel like it's a different size

BUG FIXES:

  • Hover and cruise mode now only toggle when the helicopter is within the appropriate speed limits
  • Crashes and memory leaks related to scene resets have been fixed
  • Menus correctly toggle between controller/mouse inputs based on what you are using
  • Moving the camera underwater correctly adds an underwater effect
