A downloadable game for Windows and Linux

Take to the skies above exciting island landscapes in RotorSim, a retro-inspired helicopter simulation inspired by the classic sims of the 1990s. Master accessible and rewarding flight mechanics as you tackle diverse missions in a hand-crafted world.

As a new pilot for AeroAssist, an organization specializing in aerial support for disaster relief, medical transport, and critical supply delivery, your mission is to bring aid to remote locations. Whether rescuing stranded hikers, delivering vital cargo, or transporting passengers, the places you visit will depend on your skill and adaptability!!

Engaging Flight Model

The flight model strikes a balance between realism and accessibility, capturing a sim-cade level of helicopter aerodynamics. Easy to grasp mechanics are balanced with key helicopter dynamics like engine torque, vortex ring state, and RPM management, while keeping the controls intuitive and not requiring expensive peripherals.

3 Different Helicopters

As of the 1.0 release, there are 3 helicopters, each with their own distinct handling characteristics. One is quick and light, one is a strong, slow behemoth, and one is the classic balance between the two. Learning each platform's strengths and weaknesses will be the key to completing the campaign.

30 Mission Campaign

Perform search-and-rescue operations, transport cargo, and ferry passengers while meeting a cast of colorful characters who call the islands home. And if you'd like to practice, mess around, or just chill, choose a free flight mode and go explore the world!

Weather Simulation

Weather is an active part of the simulation, affecting both visibility and helicopter handling. Missions can  include stormy conditions, rain, fog, wind gusts, and turbulence, each requiring precise control and careful attention.

Lightweight

RotorSim is built to run smoothly on lower-end hardware (such as integrated graphics and the Steam Deck) without sacrificing the depth of the simulation.

I'm glad you enjoyed the game! If you use the Itch desktop app or Steam (coming soon ๐Ÿ˜Š) you won't get that warning. Unfortunately, getting an .exe signed by Microsoft is an expensive process, and it's not going to be fixed anytime soon as my release cadence is speeding up and I want to make sure each new version is distinct. (Itch and Signed .exe). The final release will take this reputation building into account.

But keep an eye out for the Steam release, coming Q2 next year!

It was great fun to take a helicopter cruise around the small islands.
And the story was very good, not just a story about transporting cargo, but an exciting story involving many different forces!
I'm sorry to the helicopter personnel that the last one had to repeatedly self-destruct after the mission was over to save time, meow...

Hi, thank you for playing! I really appreciate the effort you put in to make a video!

You might be pleased to hear that the next version will have a reset feature so you won't have to self-destruct anymore to save time ๐Ÿ˜. It will also have a complete story! It will be releasing this week.

Hello! The story is complete! So touching, nya~!

I'm so happy to play it again, yay! ๐Ÿพ

So excited that you enjoyed the story!

Thank you for making another video! It was very fun to watch ๐Ÿ˜Ž

really cool, brings vibes somewhere in between simcopter and operation flashpoint!

Thanks, that was the goal! High praise ๐Ÿ˜

Randomly found this game at like 1 AM, download was super easy, game start up was quick, understood the controls super quickly, and genuinely had fun just flying around. The music in the background also makes flying so much more chill.  Since its still just a beta, i expect more to come, like perhaps more maps, and bigger maps while still having options for both newer and older systems (as you mention in your goals, was to make it work for older hardware). Maybe have challenges within the game, like time trials, i get its supposed to just be a simulator, but for some people its nice to have a good,  finish hard challenge=cool reward system.  I recommend this game, even if you only play it for just 20 minutes.

Thank you so much! That means a lot. I'm actually working very hard on a mission system that tells a story as you progress ๐Ÿ˜€. Thinking about tying rewards like funny or unique game modes into completing the campaign.

I actually haven't even thought about time trials but that's a pretty cool idea, I might make an arcade mode that has a bunch of trials and is just a bunch of goofy fun.  And yes, new maps are in development. But that's a stretch goal for me as I want this first map to be very well made.

Again, thanks for the kind words it really helps keep my motivation high. Stay tuned, I'm working on a lot of cool additions!

Looks a little bit like SimCopter

That's the goal! Trying to capture that old school feel
